Description

Role Purpose

The Deputy Tea Maker plays a vital supporting role in maintaining workplace morale through the timely preparation and distribution of hot beverages. Working closely with the Chief Tea Maker, the successful postholder will help ensure colleagues remain adequately supplied with tea, coffee, and occasional biscuits during busy periods, meetings, and moments of national importance.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation, brewing, and delivery of tea throughout the working day.
Provide cover for the Chief Tea Maker during annual leave, lunch breaks, and periods of high tea demand.
Maintain exceptional standards of tea quality, ensuring appropriate brewing times and milk-to-tea ratios.
Manage relationships with key stakeholders regarding sugar preferences, biscuit requirements, and mug ownership disputes.
Monitor stock levels of tea bags, coffee, milk, and other critical refreshment resources, escalating risks as required.
Support meeting organisers by ensuring refreshments are available ahead of scheduled gatherings.
Contribute to a positive workplace culture through excellent customer service and occasional words of encouragement.

Excellent stakeholder management skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced refreshment environment.
Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding tea strength preferences.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a high-performing tea-making team.

Desirable

Experience operating kettles, urns, or other advanced brewing technology.
Knowledge of herbal, fruit, and specialist teas.
Ability to remember at least ten colleagues’ drink orders without taking notes.
Recognised expertise in biscuit selection and pairing.
