Summary:

We are pleased to confirm that we have an opportunity to join our Finance team on a 14-month Fixed Term Contract.

As part of the Financial Operations team, you will assist in the delivery of accurate accounting information and reporting to Bennetts’ and the wider finance team. Reporting into the Operational Finance Manager, you will ensure all outputs are delivered in line with current accounting standards and that robust financial controls are maintained. 

You will be responsible for the completion of daily and monthly finance tasks, ensuring all activities are delivered accurately and within agreed deadlines while adhering to established financial controls. The role includes responsibility for policy and customer reconciliations, carried out in line with approved procedures. You will investigate and resolve discrepancies, maintain clear audit trails, and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support effective financial reporting. 

Responsibilities:

  • Transactional reconciliation – Reconciling between systems in line with service levels, escalating issues as required
  • Policy and customer administration – Reconciling policyholder accounts, issuing cheques and refunds, and reconciling payments received
  • Financial reporting – Supporting monthly financial reporting through bank reconciliations and resolution of differences
  • Month-end support – Posting journals and assisting with balance sheet reconciliations
  • Accounts payable/receivable – Processing expenses and supplier invoices, ensuring accurate recording, timely payments, and effective control of outstanding balances
  • Wider opportunities – Supporting broader business activities and ad hoc projects that add value to Bennetts’ overall objectives

    Qualifications:

    • Experience and skill – Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within the insurance sector. A level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
    • Collaboration & communication – Strong interpersonal skills to support the finance team in meeting objectives and deadlines, with the ability to manage stakeholders and work closely with the wider business
    • Financial controls – Ability to adhere to established processes and controls while identifying risks, improvements, and opportunities for enhancement
    • Customer focus – Approachable and responsive, maintaining agreed service levels and ensuring customers are treated fairly (TCF)
    • Enterprising & dynamic – Enthusiastic and proactive, with the initiative to embrace new challenges and change
