About the job
The Communities Development Team works to support our variety of student groups to ensure they are student led, diverse and accessible. This role will work directly with committee leaders in supporting both sports and society activity through reviewing event proposals and risk assessments, booking rooms and spaces at UAL, and promoting student group activity on social media platforms, newsletters and the SU website. You will also be supporting in coordinating BUCS & LUSL fixtures for our sports clubs using the BUCS Play app and ensuring all fixture details are communicated to captains, opposition, and referees.
The individual will be working with sports and society leaders in supporting to deliver key projects such as Disability History Month, LGBTQ+ History Month, International Women’s Day amongst others. Other projects you will be supporting on include specific sports and society led events and workshops which run throughout the academic year with the aim of developing and improving student communities.
The individual will also have the opportunity to support the students involved in the Elite Athlete Program, communicating with them to ensure the SU are kept up to date with upcoming events and competitions, as well as collecting feedback from the athletes on the program.

Someone that can work independently and as part of a team and wants to support the development of sports clubs and societies and community building

Someone who or organized, a quick thinker and enjoys communicating with a variety of people.
No previous experience within this field is required, as long as you’re willing to learn and want to better the experience of students involved in student groups, you should apply!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Booking spaces/rooms at UAL for society activity, as well as external spaces for sports activity
- Using the BUCS Play app to coordinate and organise BUCS and LUSL fixtures of our sports clubs when competing against other universities
- Reviewing club and society risk assessments so that all activity is conducted in a safe manner
- Promoting student group activity on social media platforms, newsletters and the Students Union website
- Communicating with committee members on processes and deadlines that relate to the development of our student groups
- Working closely with committee members to support them in delivering campaigns/projects linked to liberation to ensure our student communities are diverse, accessible and reflective of the student population
- Proactively reporting to the Community Development Coordinator and Community Development Manager on your availability and progress on projects and areas of work
