Sustainability Consultant (Overheating)

Salary: £30,000-£35,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Contract: Permanent, Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week

Reporting to: Senior Sustainability Consultant

Location: Remote (United Kingdom)

We’re looking for a Sustainability Consultant with experience of delivering TM59 Overheating assessments in accordance with Part O regulations. In this remote role, you’ll produce overheating assessments for major residential developments, supporting our clients in meeting Part O requirements and achieving their sustainability objectives. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated sustainability consultant capable of producing TM59 assessments for large national developers using either IES or DesignBuilder software. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building effective working relationships with colleagues and clients. Good attention to detail is essential as the role requires a high degree of accuracy and organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provision of overheating assessments using IES or DesignBuilder to ensure our clients achieve compliance with Part O
  • Managing projects comprising a small number of services, including planning and tracking progress against deadlines, coordinating inputs, and escalating issues where necessary
  • Active engagement with the client and design team to ensure that sustainability requirements are taken into consideration and achieved over the lifecycle of the development
  • Providing high quality consultancy and written reports at land purchase and planning stage to ensure that planning requirements are met
  • Utilisation of resources from within the team to ensure that the client receives timely, high-quality advice and assessments

Key Competencies

Essential

  • Be conversant with Building Regulations throughout the UK, with particular expertise in Part O and awareness of how Part L requirements interact with compliance
  • Able to communicate with clients effectively and confidently via telephone, email and face-to-face
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills and a good level of general education, particularly in Maths, Science and English
  • Ability to self-manage a busy and time-critical schedule of work
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Client-focused with a commitment to providing high-quality support

Desirable

  • Be an accredited On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor (OCDEA)
  • Experience in delivering SAP assessments (Part L), PSI Values, or SBEM would be advantageous, and we welcome candidates who are keen to broaden their expertise in these areas.
  • Have experience of providing consultancy at planning stage and writing energy/sustainability strategies
  • Have a good working knowledge of non-residential development
  • Have an ability to visualise in 3D and interpret technical drawings
  • Conversant with M&E specifications
