ECO Approach Ltd is a leading provider of property certification, compliance, and energy efficiency services, specialising in heating, electrical installations, servicing, and repairs. We serve over 10,000 properties monthly across the UK, working with homeowners, landlords, estate agents, housing associations, managing agents, and energy companies.
As our communal and district heating portfolio continues to expand, we are seeking experienced HIU Service & Repair Engineers to support our growing workload across residential developments throughout London.
The Role
We are looking for skilled and experienced engineers to undertake reactive HIU call-out activities, fault finding, maintenance, and repairs across our portfolio of residential developments within the M25.
Whilst preferred geographical areas may be allocated where possible, engineers may be expected to travel across London and surrounding areas as operational requirements dictate.
This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with strong diagnostic skills and experience working within communal heating and district heating networks.
Key Responsibilities
• Attend reactive HIU breakdown and repair appointments.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on a wide range of Heat Interface Units (HIUs).
• Complete planned maintenance and servicing activities where required.
• Identify and rectify faults relating to heating, domestic hot water, controls, sensors, actuators, valves, plate heat exchangers, and associated components.
• Ensure HIUs are operating safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
• Deliver excellent customer service whilst working in occupied residential properties.
• Complete accurate job reports, service records, and compliance documentation.
• Maintain compliance with all health and safety procedures and company standards.
• Communicate effectively with residents, site teams, and the ECO Approach operations team.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
• Proven experience servicing, fault finding, and repairing Heat Interface Units (HIUs).
• Strong understanding of communal and district heating systems.
• Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities.
• Experience working independently in occupied residential environments.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Clean DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Own van.
• Own tools.
Desirable
• Domestic Gas Qualifications (CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, CKR1).
• Unvented Hot Water Qualification (G3).
• Experience working on social housing, residential management, or district heating contracts.
• Experience with commissioning and system optimisation.
HIU Manufacturers You’ll Be Working On
Engineers should be familiar with fault finding, servicing, and repair works across a variety of HIU manufacturers, including:
• Vital VTherm
• Danfoss
• SAV Systems
• Evinox
• Switch2
• Altecnic
• Giacomini
• Bosch
Experience across multiple HIU platforms is highly desirable.
