Job Summary

We are seeking compassionate Respite Care Providers to work full-time or part-time supporting children with autism and other neurodiverse needs. The role involves transporting children to activities, providing personal care, and implementing structured care plans to support their well-being and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport clients safely to and from scheduled activities, therapy sessions, and community outings.
  • Provide in-home and out-of-home respite care in a structured and nurturing environment.
  • Assist with daily living activities including hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Support behavioral regulation and calming strategies as per the child’s needs.
  • Engage children in educational and recreational activities, such as outdoor play, board games, and sensory-based interactions.
  • Monitor and document client progress, behavior, and any concerns for caregivers and caseworkers.
  • Ensure safety and well-being, particularly for children prone to elopement or sensory overload.
  • Work closely with FSCD caseworkers and families to provide consistent, high-quality care.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children or youth with ASD, ADHD, OCD, sensory sensitivities, or complex behavioral needs.
  • Demonstrated patience and skill in de-escalation, redirection, and positive behavior support.
  • Understanding of elopement risks, safety planning, and emotional regulation techniques.
  • Experience supporting children with asthma, heart conditions, or vestibular/migraine-related balance challenges.
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to caregiving.
  • Ability to follow structured care plans while adapting to the child’s needs.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle (required).
