We are looking for two Seasonal Catering Assistants to join our friendly restaurant team at Pennine Garden Centre beginning as soon as possible for an 8-week period.

Your goal will be to provide a warm welcome to all our restaurant visitors and do everything you can to make their visit a memorable one. You’ll support with serving customers, preparing food and drinks, operating the tills, and ensuring the restaurant area is clean, organised, and inviting at all times.

This is a busy and physically demanding role, so you must be comfortable working at pace and being on your feet for most of your shift.

The working hours for both roles are 12:00-16:30, following a two-week rota:

Seasonal Role 1:

Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Seasonal Role 2:
Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday

Key Responsibilities:

As a Catering Assistant, your role includes but is not limited to:

  • Welcoming and seating customers
  • Taking customer orders
  • Assisting with menu and beverage recommendations
  • Preparing and serving food and drinks
  • Operating tills and handling cash
  • Clearing and cleaning tables
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
  • Supporting the wider team where needed
  • Handling customer queries and resolving issues promptly
  • Communicating effectively with kitchen and front-of-house teams
  • Reporting to shifts on time in full uniform

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Ideally, we are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience in a catering or hospitality environment (preferred but not essential)
  • Is friendly, approachable, and enjoys working with people
  • Has good attention to detail
  • Is willing to learn and develop new skills
  • Can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Is flexible and reliable, including weekend working
