The Role

We are seeking a People & Development Manager to lead and improve our people practices as the company continues to grow. The primary focus of this role will be to identify development needs across the organisation and build the frameworks, programmes and partnerships that support employee growth. This includes improving onboarding, career development and leadership capability.

The role will also act as a hands-on HR generalist, maintaining effective people operations, supporting managers, and ensuring our HR systems, policies and processes run smoothly.

This role will not be responsible for delivering training directly, but will instead coordinate internal expertise and external partners to ensure employees receive the right development support.

Key Responsibilities

Learning & Development

Identify organisational training and development needs

Design and maintain a learning and development framework

Work with internal leaders to define the skills and capabilities teams need

Coordinate and organise training delivered by internal subject matter experts

Source and manage external training providers and partners where appropriate

Track and evaluate the effectiveness of development initiatives

Career Development & Performance

Develop career frameworks and progression pathways

Support managers in creating individual development plans

Help run and improve performance and feedback processes

Encourage internal mobility and career growth

Onboarding & Employee Experience

Design and maintain a structured onboarding programme

Ensure new employees are effectively integrated into the company

Provide managers with tools and guidance to support onboarding

Monitor and improve the early employee experience

HR Generalist & People Operations

Act as the first point of contact for HR-related matters

Support managers with employee relations and people issues

Maintain and improve HR policies, documentation and processes

Ensure compliance with employment legislation and HR best practices

Maintain employee records and HR administration

HR Systems & Process Improvement

Own and optimise our HR platform (Employment Hero)

Ensure accurate employee data and system adoption across the organisation

Generate people insights and reporting where helpful

Continuously improve HR processes and documentation

Recruitment Support

Support hiring managers with recruitment processes when required

Help ensure a consistent candidate and onboarding experience

Skills & Experience

Essential

5+ years experience in HR / People / L&D roles

Experience identifying organisational development or training needs

Experience coordinating training programmes or external providers

Strong HR generalist experience

Experience managing or optimising an HRIS

Ability to operate independently as the primary People lead

Desirable

Experience working in a scaling organisation (50-200 employees)

Experience with Employment Hero

Experience designing career frameworks or performance systems
