Role Overview:
The Commercial Trainee supports the commercial and financial management of social housing projects, assisting with cost control, procurement, and contract administration. This role is ideal for someone starting a career in quantity surveying or commercial management within the housing or construction sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports.
- Support procurement processes, including obtaining quotes and liaising with suppliers and subcontractors
- Help monitor project costs and identify any variances against budgets
- Assist with valuations, invoices, and payment applications
- Maintain accurate financial and contractual records
- Support the administration of contracts and ensure compliance with policies and regulations
- Work closely with project managers, site teams, and finance departments
- Contribute to value engineering and cost-saving initiatives
- Attend site visits and meetings to gain practical project insight
You Will Need:
- Educated to A-level or equivalent (degree or studying towards degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar is desirable)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Attention to detail and good organisational ability
- Willingness to learn and develop within a commercial role
