The
Nunhead Gardener is looking for a talented and motivated Lead Florist & Floristry
Manager to lead our
growing floristry department and help shape its next stage of development.
Our
floristry business currently generates over
£350,000 in annual sales, supplying our stores with fresh bouquets as
well as flowers for weddings,
events, funerals and local businesses.
This
is a hands-on leadership
role combining
floristry, team management and the opportunity to grow weddings, events and
contract flower work.
You
will lead a small team of florists and help shape the future direction of
floristry within The Nunhead Gardener.
This
role would suit an
experienced retail florist who is ready to take the next step into a leadership
role.

The
Nunhead Gardener is an independent garden centre business in South East London
with stores in Nunhead,
Camberwell and Elephant Park. We are known for beautifully curated
plants, garden goods and flowers, and for creating welcoming retail spaces with
a strong sense of style and quality.
Alongside
our plant offering we have developed a growing floristry department supplying
our stores with fresh bouquets as well as flowers for weddings, events and local
businesses.
About
Bloom Works
Bloom Works is our new
dedicated floristry studio and retail flower space located next to our
Camberwell store. It will provide a larger workspace for our floristry team, a
beautiful retail flower shop and a space for workshops and creative events.
The
space is currently being refurbished to create an inspiring environment for
both customers and florists and will become the home of our floristry
department as it continues to grow.
The
Role
You
will manage a small team of florists working across Bloom Works, Camberwell and
Nunhead, ensuring our stores are consistently stocked with beautiful
fresh bouquets while also helping grow our work in weddings, events and contract
flowers.
Responsibilities
include:

Managing and supporting a small team of florists
·
Maintaining consistent bouquet style and quality across
locations
·
Overseeing flower buying and stock management
·
Ensuring efficient production and minimal flower waste
·
Working with the team to deliver weddings, events and
contract flowers
·
Planning key seasonal events including Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day
and Christmas
·
Helping establish Bloom
Works as a destination
for flowers and workshops
About
You
You
will be an experienced retail
florist, senior florist or head florist who enjoys both hands-on floristry and
helping develop a growing department.
You
will likely have:
·
Several years’ professional floristry experience
·
Strong bouquet-making and floral design skills
·
Experience supervising or supporting other florists
·
Confidence ordering flowers and managing stock
·
A fast and organised approach to floristry production
·
A proactive attitude and interest in developing the
floristry offering
Experience
with weddings, events or
contract flowers would
be an advantage but is not essential.

A
Typical Day in the Role
A
typical day might begin at Bloom
Works preparing bouquets
for delivery to our stores. On flower delivery days you may be checking in new
flower orders and working with the team to prepare bouquets for the shop floor.
During
the week you may also:

Meet with a couple planning flowers for a small wedding
·
Prepare arrangements for one of our restaurant flower
contracts
·
Plan ordering for the next delivery of fresh flowers
·
Work with the team to ensure all stores have beautiful,
fresh bouquets
·
Develop ideas for seasonal displays or workshops
During
busy seasonal periods such as Valentine’s
Day, Mother’s Day and Christmas, the focus shifts to planning
production and supporting the team through peak trading.
No two
weeks are quite the same, which is part of what makes the role enjoyable.
