Are you a confident retail leader who thrives on being hands-on, inspiring teams, and driving performance on the shop floor? We’re looking for an experienced Assistant Centre Manager to play a key role in the day-to-day running of our Otley site.

About the Role:

As Assistant Centre Manager, you’ll be instrumental in delivering our retail strategy across the centre. You’ll motivate, coach and develop teams, maximise sales opportunities, and ensure high standards across merchandising, stock control, and customer service. You’ll plan ahead, think commercially, and bring energy and leadership to everything you do.

This is a full time role working on average 37.25 hours per week including alternate weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, communicate and deliver the retail strategy across the business, ensuring teams are developed and deployed effectively
  • Act as a role model, providing clear direction, consistent feedback and visible leadership
  • Motivate and engage team members so expectations are always understood and achieved
  • Drive exciting merchandising, inspiring displays and impactful promotions
  • Lead succession planning through recruitment, training, coaching and on-the-job development
  • Deliver regular, motivational team meetings to ensure clear and consistent communication
  • Plan 6 months or more ahead, considering merchandising, marketing campaigns, seasonal trends and product sales
  • Be a daily Ambassador for our Values and Behaviours
  • Maximise sales through add-on selling, alternative products, promotions and team development
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with fellow Managers and Supervisors across Tong Garden Centres (Yorkshire Garden Centres)
  • Manage stock control, ordering and wastage, developing strong supplier relationships
  • Plan rotas effectively, manage holidays and control wage budgets
  • Apply performance management processes confidently, including inductions, appraisals, PIPs, disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Ensure teams consistently replenish and present products to the highest retail standards, including date, temperature and price checks
  • Ensure the Garden centre is run efficiently and at the highest standards in the absence of the centre manager.
