Senior Garment Technologist (18-month FTC)

product.
The Senior Garment Technologist plays a key role in maintaining and elevating the quality, fit and technical standards of Sosandar products. Working closely with Design, Buying and suppliers, the role ensures garments meet the brand’s quality expectations from development through to
production.
This position also supports the Garment Technologist Manager, helps mentor junior team members and drives continuous improvement across product standards, supplier performance and fit consistency.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Product Development
- Ensure all garments meet the Sosandar quality, fit and construction standards throughout the development and production process.
- Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and quality when reviewing samples, specifications and production standards.
- Use extensive knowledge of garment construction, pattern cutting, fitting and grading to provide clear and accurate technical comments to suppliers and factories.
- Analyse testing requirements and reports, ensuring garments meet relevant safety, performance and care standards.
- Monitor garment care instructions and fabric performance to ensure suitability for production and customer use.
Fit & Quality Management
- Ensure consistent fit across product categories, continually evaluating and improving garment fit.
- Conduct and lead fit sessions, providing detailed feedback to suppliers and pattern makers.
- Support Designers and Buyers to improve sample hit rate, ensuring first samples align closely with the Sosandar standard.
- Identify potential production issues early and provide technical solutions to maintain product quality.
Team Leadership & Department Support
- Act as a key voice within the technical team, championing best practice and continuous improvement.
- Support the Garment Technologist Manager and confidently manage the team during their absence.
- Mentor and manage junior members of the department, supporting their development and workload management.
- Ensure the technical department runs efficiently and productively, meeting all development and production deadlines.
Supplier & Factory Management
- Maintain daily communication with suppliers and factories to manage development and production progress.
- Undertake supplier and factory visits to strengthen relationships and drive improvements in quality, efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure suppliers adhere to product standards, manuals and technical requirements set by Sosandar.
- Monitor and advise on safe operating standards within manufacturing environments.
Quality Control & Issue Resolution
- Assess and manage QC across product categories efficiently and proactively.
- Implement corrective actions with suppliers to prevent repeat issues and improve manufacturing standards.
Data Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Produce and present data reports to monitor product quality, fit consistency and supplier performance.
- Analyse performance metrics to identify areas for continuous improvement in product development and production.
- Support internal reviews by presenting insights to the management team when required.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Extensive experience in a Garment Technologist role within womenswear fashion.
- Multi product experience; outerwear, tailoring, jersey, leather & swim.
- Excellent knowledge of Garment construction
- Excellent knowledge of Pattern cutting, fitting and grading
- Excellent knowledge of Fabric performance and garment testing
- Excellent knowledge of Production processes and quality control
- Strong understanding of technical specifications and sample development.
- Exceptional attention to detail and quality standards.
- Confident communicator able to assert technical requirements internally and externally.
- Highly organised with the ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret testing and technical reports.
- Ability to build strong supplier relationships and influence improvements in factory performance.
