Flip The Script Theatre Company is currently seeking Assistant Directors (of varying experience) to enhance our pool of Assistant Directors. The Artistic Director/CEO (Callum Shallcross) is in the process of planning our premiere season of work, and we are eager to find ambitious Assistant Directors for some of our upcoming productions. Whether you have little or some experience as an Assistant Director, we would be delighted to hear from you. We are looking for Assistant Directors aged 16 and above.

Assistant Director – Expectations:

Read and Study the plays, then discuss the concept and ideas with the Director

Attend all production meetings

Communicate with the whole team, sometimes on behalf of the Director

Undertake administrative tasks (with the Stage Manager) such as scheduling

Participate in the casting process

Assist the Director, including noting each rehearsal and discussing the process with the Director

Run rehearsals such as run-throughs or speed line runs

Run rehearsals in the Director’s absence and ensure everything is noted and communicated back to the Director

Rehearse scenes if an Actor is absent

Offer creative assistance

If the show tours, maintain the show in various venues in the absence of the Director

Assist during technical rehearsals

Note every public performance and communicate notes back to the Director and cast

Collaborate with all members of the creative team

Lead warm ups at the beginning of each rehearsal
