This role 

Employment Hero Canada (formerly Humi) needs a hands-on Finance Manager to lead the Canadian finance team, in conjunction with the Global team, run the monthly close, and keep the payroll and tax calendar on time. You will work closely with the Employment Hero group finance team mostly based in Australia, external tax advisers and auditors.

What you will do

• Lead the month-end close for all Canadian entities including reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Prepare the ARR and KPI pack and monthly reporting for group finance.
• Own the day-to-day Canada money movement: collaborate with support, engineering, compliance, and product in monitoring and reconciling incoming wires and e-transfers, funding the payroll float account, and resolving payment variances and delays to ensure incidents are prevented, raised, and resolved in a timely manner.
• Review and approve semi-monthly Canadian payroll runs before cut-off, and process payroll inputs and corrections.
• Manage the payroll remittance calendar, including EHT, LTD premium deductions and other deductions. Lead T4s and support ROE requests.
• Coordinate GST/HST and provincial sales tax filings across entities.
• Support T2 filings and year-end audit work, including year-end adjustments and cost allocations.
• Approve payments and money movement within your delegated limits, and protect segregation of duties across banking, AP and payroll.
• Collaborate cross functionally to manage business risk while balancing clients’ payroll needs. 
• Liaise with external parties, such as the CRA, for reviews, audits and other engagements.
• Lead, coach and review the work of two Senior Financial Analysts. Set priorities and hold regular one-to-ones.
• Document processes and controls so the close does not depend on any one person.  

What we are looking for

• CPA designation, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally having led a team.
• Hands-on Canadian payroll experience, including source deductions, EHT and ROE processing.
• Working knowledge of GST/HST and provincial sales tax.
• Strong NetSuite or similar ERP experience. 
• Comfortable working for a global company and across time zones
• Strong AI skills and a willingness to learn

Nice to have

• Experience in SaaS or payroll technology
