Principal Engineer – Rail

A highly respected multi-disciplinary consultancy, home to a dedicated team of exceptional industry experts, requires a Principal Civil Engineer / Principal Structural Engineer to join their infrastructure engineering division and work on rail projects.

In this exciting role, the Principal Rail Engineer will work on a range of interesting projects, such as bridge design and renewals, AFA schemes and station developments.

Responsibilities:

• Act as technical lead for civil / structural design projects
• Line manage and mentor a team of Civil and Structural Design Engineers
• Provide engineering support and advice to colleagues and the wider team
• Support tenders
• Establish project programme, scope and budget
• Lead design reviews and design coordination / integration
• Ensure adherence to design standards
• Liaise with clients and attend meetings 

Requirements:

• Experience as a Principal Civil /  Principal Structural Engineer within the rail sector
• Hold Chartered or Incorporated status
• Extensive experience in the design of civil engineering solutions in the rail industry
• Experience leading a team of design engineers
• Strong knowledge of Network Rail assurance process
• Commercial awareness
• CRE (D) is desirable
• Client-facing
• Knowledge of British engineering standards, as well as those of Network Rail, Eurocodes and CDM regulations
• Experience using structural analysis software, such as LUSAS, MIDAS, SuperStress, Robot, S-frame 3D, Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Tedds
