Description

The Training Instructor shall be responsible for all aspects of training delivery within their specialist area in accordance with company, accrediting body and industry requirements. 

 Key Duties & Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities shall include the following:

  • Delivery of training within the specialist area in accordance with company and accrediting body requirements. Ensuring relevant documentation is completed, recorded and maintained in company systems and submitted to accrediting bodies as necessary.
  • Participating in standardisation and continuing professional development (CPD) events and activities as required.
  • Reviewing and updating course content and development within the specialist area as necessary in conjunction with the Training Development Manager.
  • Establishing key objectives for learning content and courses and ensure these are met.
  • Administering and grading examinations as necessary and provide feedback to delegates.
  • Answering delegates’ questions and providing any necessary support.
  • Enforcing all training policies, procedures and safety practices.
  • Conducting relevant safety inspections of all associated equipment and updating maintenance documentation.
  • Assisting in identifying new course delivery opportunities.
  • Reporting all incidents, accidents and near misses to ensure compliance with company requirements and awarding body guidelines.
  • Maintaining the training facility and specialist area and equipment to a high standard, ensuring it is safe, presentable and adheres to certification standards – all defects to be notified to the Training Development Manager immediately.

 

Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

Essential:

  • Proven experience and capability within their specialist area of instruction.
  • Knowledge of learning theories and methods of instruction.
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of software applications such as the MS Office package.
  • Excellent communication, relationship building and presentation skills.
  • Strong organisational skills to co-ordinate and deliver training activities.

 

Desirable:

  • Instructional / teaching qualification at level 3 or above
  • A current assessing or IQA qualification (or be willing to work towards gaining)
  • Safeguarding qualification (or be willing to work towards gaining)
  • Health and Safety qualification (IOSH / NEBOSH or suitable equivalent)
  • Working @ Height experience/certification
