THE ROLE

The Technical Project Lead holds full accountability for AV operations and technical delivery across TAG Live® B2C activations, venues and client projects.

This role combines strategic technical oversight with hands-on project leadership. You will translate creative concepts into technically robust, commercially viable and operationally safe delivery plans. From initial scoping through to live execution and debrief, you will own the end-to-end AV lifecycle.

You will operate as the central technical authority across internal teams, freelance crews, production partners and suppliers. The objective is consistent, premium technical delivery that protects margin, ensures compliance and strengthens client confidence.

This is a visible leadership role requiring on-site presence during build, live operation and breakdown phases.

 

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

End-to-End AV Project Ownership

Lead technical feasibility from creative handover through delivery

Produce detailed technical specifications, equipment schedules and crew structures

 Manage rehearsals, show flow integration and live cue execution

Oversee build, live operation and de-rig phases

Ensure seamless integration across audio, lighting, visual and show control systems

 

Technical Operations Leadership

Provide overarching technical support and insight across all clients and projects

 Maintain strong communication across technicians to drive consistency and best practice

 Develop and implement technical processes and standard operating procedures

 Review and maintain technical infrastructure to ensure systems remain current and scalable

 

Commercial & Budget Accountability

Build and manage detailed AV budgets with margin responsibility

Support wider departmental budgeting and procurement processes

Monitor cost tracking and protect financial performance

Identify efficiencies without compromising production value

 

Compliance, Risk & Governance

Maintain detailed knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice

Work with the Head of Compliance to ensure policies remain up to date

Review and revise Safe Systems of Work and operational procedures

Lead RAMS preparation and risk planning for activations

Ensure documentation is audit-ready and delivery is compliant

 

On-Site Leadership & Client Engagement

Provide calm, decisive leadership in high-pressure live environments

Set clear expectations across crew and suppliers

Lead technical discussions with brand and agency stakeholders

Manage client expectations while protecting operational feasibility

Deliver structured post-event technical reporting and insight

 

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING

Technical Expertise

Proven experience leading AV delivery for high-footfall B2C activations or live brand events

Strong cross-discipline knowledge across audio, lighting, visual and control systems

Working knowledge of QLab, Avolites and industry software platforms

Clear understanding of live technical compliance and safety standards

 

Project & Commercial Leadership

Demonstrable experience leading complex live projects end-to-end

Experience managing AV budgets

Strong stakeholder and supplier management capability

Ability to protect margin while delivering premium production standards

 

Operational Excellence

Advanced planning capability including crew scheduling and logistics coordination

Strong documentation standards and attention to detail

Structured, organised and delivery-focused mindset

 

Leadership & Behaviour

Confident leading freelance teams and external partners

Strong communicator across creative, operational and supplier environments

Decisive problem-solver under pressure

Positive, solutions-focused approach

Comfortable working flexibly including weekends and travel

Additional Requirements

Full UK Driving Licence

Ability and facilities to work from home when required.
