THE ROLE
• The Creative Lead is a hands-on creative role
responsible for owning the creative vision of individual shows and live
experiences, overseeing their development through to final execution
• Originate ideas, shape creative worlds,
and lead the creative development of projects from initial concept through to
rehearsal and live delivery
• Work closely with a range of creative
specialists – including choreographers, musical directors, musical supervisors,
rehearsal directors, and designers – to bring your vision to life in a cohesive
and engaging way
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
• Take creative ownership of assigned shows and
live experiences, holding the vision from initial concept through to rehearsal
and final performance
• Originate new creative ideas, worlds, and
narratives for live entertainment, responding to briefs with originality,
clarity and audience focus
• Lead character development from initial ideation
through to rehearsal and final delivery, creating engaging, accessible
characters specifically designed for family audiences
• Develop creative concepts into structured,
performance-ready formats, including show structures, scripts, musical
direction, and choreographic intention
• Create clear, comprehensive creative briefs for
all creative specialists – including choreographers, musical directors, musical
supervisors, rehearsal directors, designers, and AV content creators – ensuring
every discipline understands the vision, tone, audience and objectives
• Translate creative vision into actionable
direction for scenic, costume, prop, and AV design, ensuring cohesion across
all creative elements
• Work collaboratively with creative specialists to
bring briefs to life, providing clear feedback and maintaining consistency
across disciplines
• Demonstrate strong experience in delivering
high-quality creative work within agreed budgets, ensuring creative ambition is
balanced, with financial responsibility
• Take ownership of allocated project budgets,
making informed creative decisions that maximise production value while
remaining within financial parameters
• Be actively involved in rehearsals and show
development, shaping performance, pacing, and storytelling in real time
• When working on brand-led or client-facing
projects, uphold client brand standards and guidelines, ensuring creative
decisions align with brand values, tone and audience expectations
• Act as the creative point of reference for the
project, making creative decisions and resolving creative challenges as they
arise
• Maintain high creative standards across all
outputs, ensuring the final experience is engaging, polished and audience-ready
WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING
Essential
• Proven
experience working creatively on live shows, entertainment or performance-led
experiences
• Strong ability to originate creative ideas and develop them into fully
realised live performances
• Experience working collaboratively with creative specialists such as
choreographers, musical directors, rehearsal directors and designers
• A strong understanding of storytelling, pacing and audience experience in a
live environment
• Confidence holding and articulating a creative vision from concept through
rehearsal and performance
• Clear, confident communication skills and the ability to give constructive
creative feedback
• Experience managing creative budgets and balancing ambition with financial
responsibility
Desirable (But Not Essential)
• Experience
creating live entertainment for attractions, theme parks, cruise lines, or
visitor destinations
• Experience in character branding and development, including creating
distinctive characters with clear visual identities, personality frameworks and
narrative backstories, and understanding how these can extend across marketing,
merchandise, digital content and long-term IP growth
