Description

PRP is seeking an experienced and commercially-driven Interim Head of New Business & Marketing to lead our marketing and growth strategy, commencing in May 2026. This is a maternity cover role of approximately nine months.

The Interim Head of New Business & Marketing is a pivotal leadership role for a senior professional with a proven track record in both proactive business development and strategic marketing within the architecture, property, or wider built environment sector. Reporting directly to the Partners, you will be responsible for identifying new client leads, and using client knowledge and challenges to inform the marketing programme. This role involves line-managing a team of four people, while working with colleagues at all levels of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Team and budget management

  • Lead and mentor a marketing team of four (Marketing & Communications Manager, Marketing Assistant, Marketing Executive and Film-maker).
  • Manage the marketing budget, ensuring efficient use of resources to achieve marketing goals and business objectives.

New Business & Marketing Strategy

  • Identify opportunities for PRP to expand its client base while leveraging opportunities from within its existing client network.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies in line with PRP’s business objectives.

Proactive Business Development

  • Network at industry events to meet new client contacts and represent the business.
  • Facilitate meetings with new contacts and the senior management team, and prepare briefings accordingly.
  • Ensure the Marketing team is embedding business development processes into relevant workstreams and the CRM is being fully utilised.

Marketing tactics

  • Have oversight of the department’s Marketing tactics. This covers a range of programmes including PR & thought leadership, campaigns, awards, events, social media and digital marketing.

Event management

  • Support the Marketing team’s planning for major marketing events such as MIPIM, CIH Brighton, Housing Manchester, UKREIIF, etc., ensuring effective promotion and engagement. This includes organising client meetings and dinners, hotel booking, securing speaking opportunities and sponsorship, producing marketing collaterals, etc.
  • Organise and host bespoke client events.
  • Oversee the team’s organisation of PRP-hosted events and attendance, and follow ups, at external events and conferences.

Market research

  • Conduct market research to stay updated on trends in the wider built environment and identify future market opportunities for PRP.
  • Provide insights on geographical areas and sectors for the firm to focus on to support the business.

Reporting and analysis

  • Analyse the success of new business and marketing tactics, and present results to the Board on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintain regular communication with partners and team leaders to align marketing efforts with business needs.

Who you’ll work with:

  • Reporting directly to the Marketing partners, and line managing the Marketing & Communications Manager, Marketing Executive, Marketing Assistant and Film Maker.
  • Collaborating closely with the Graphics team and Bids team as well as with the wider business.
  • Working with colleagues throughout the practice on marketing and communications activities.

Skills and experience:

  • 8+ years of marketing and/or communications experience.
  • Experience with marketing strategy and campaigns is essential.
  • Demonstrable line management experience and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Proven ability to build consensus within a large company with multiple decision-makers.
  • Commercially minded and experience working with clients is preferred, but not essential if the personality fit is there.
  • Strong organisational, project management, and presentation skills are needed.
  • Good knowledge of the built environment sector.
  • Creativity with an eye for design and detail.
