Description

ARTIST LIAISON

Perth Festival | Fixed Term | Full Time | Perth, WA

Perth Festival is your summer invitation to otherworldly experiences. We’re a not-for-profit multi-arts festival that brings world-class performance, music, film, visual arts and literary events to Perth, Western Australia, every summer. As Australia’s longest-running arts festival, we’ve spent more than 70 years celebrating Perth, its people and its culture on the shores of the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River).

We’re looking for an Artist Liaison to help create a welcoming, supportive and memorable experience for the artists and companies who bring Perth Festival to life.

About the role

Reporting to the relevant Program Area Lead (Senior Program Manager, Senior Producer or Producer), you’ll be the main point of contact for visiting artists and companies during their time with Perth Festival. Working closely with Producers, Associate Producers, Programming, Production and venue teams, you’ll coordinate artist services, hospitality, scheduling and transport to ensure artists are well supported and able to do their best work.

Based across the Festival office and venues in Perth, this role requires flexibility to work around show and event schedules, including evenings and weekends.

What you’ll be doing

As the Artist Liaison, you’ll:

  1. Act as the main point of contact for allocated artists and companies, coordinating communication between artists, venues and Festival staff.
  2. Coordinate artist hospitality, catering, rider requirements, dressing rooms, wardrobe and green room support.
  3. Support artist wellbeing, accessibility and cultural needs, helping visiting artists settle into Perth and respecting cultural protocols, including those relating to First Nations artists and Noongar Boodjar.
  4. Coordinate artist and crew transport, including airport transfers, venue transfers and other Festival engagements.
  5. Work with Stage Managers and the Production team to ensure artists arrive on time for installations, rehearsals, soundchecks, performances and events.
  6. Manage approved hospitality expenditure, reconcile receipts and invoices, coordinate complimentary artist tickets, and maintain accurate artist information and schedules.
  7. Communicate schedule changes, delays and issues promptly, provide updates and reports, and contribute to the post-Festival review.
  8. Work collaboratively with Programming, Production, Marketing, Ticketing and venue teams to deliver a high standard of artist care.
  9. Follow Perth Festival’s work health and safety requirements, including safe driving practices and Festival vehicle procedures when transporting artists.

What you’ll bring

  1. Experience working with artists, performers or creative practitioners in a festival, live event or arts setting.
  2. Experience in artist liaison, hospitality, events or production support.
  3. Strong local knowledge of Perth and Western Australia.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  5. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  6. The ability to remain calm, solve problems and respond quickly to changing schedules in a fast-paced environment.
  7. A respectful and culturally aware approach, including an understanding of the importance of cultural protocols.
  8. A valid, current Australian driver’s licence and flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

It would be a bonus if you have experience across one or more art forms, such as music, theatre, dance, visual arts, literature or film; experience working with international or touring artists and companies; an understanding of First Nations cultural protocols; familiarity with artist riders and basic technical or production terminology; a current first aid certificate; or the ability to speak a language other than English.
