We’re now looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to accelerate the growth of our Managed Services business nationally.
About the Role
This is a high-impact growth role focused on expanding Starboard IT’s managed services footprint across Australia.
Based in Sydney, Melbourne or Perth, you’ll be responsible for identifying and securing new clients while developing strategic relationships with key technology vendors, partners and enterprise customers.
You’ll be backed by an experienced executive team, Group Marketing and technical specialists, giving you the support needed to build a significant national pipeline.
This opportunity is ideally suited to someone who has successfully grown an MSP business, has an established network within the Australian IT industry, and understands how to leverage strong vendor relationships to generate opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new business acquisition across Australia, with a focus on Managed Services.
- Develop and execute strategic business development plans.
- Build trusted relationships with CIOs, IT Managers, Operations leaders and C-level executives.
- Develop and leverage relationships with tier-1 vendors including Microsoft and other strategic technology partners.
- Manage the complete sales lifecycle from prospecting through to contract execution.
- Work closely with technical teams to develop tailored customer solutions.
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, forecasting and reporting.
About You
You’ll be a commercially driven sales professional with a proven history of growing MSP businesses and developing long-term customer relationships.
You’ll ideally have:
- 3+ years’ experience selling Managed Services or IT solutions.
- Strong experience within an MSP environment.
- Well-established relationships across the Australian technology channel, including vendors, distributors and referral partners.
- Strong Microsoft ecosystem knowledge, with experience selling Microsoft 365, Azure and associated cloud solutions (including M365, Azure IaaS/PaaS, security stack).
- Strong knowledge of tier-1 vendor solutions, with proven experience selling enterprise technologies while working for, or closely alongside, tier-1 vendors, major technology partners, or leading Australian MSPs.
- Excellent understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity and modern workplace solutions.
- A demonstrated track record of consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent presentation, negotiation and relationship management skills.
- The ability to engage confidently with executive stakeholders and manage complex sales opportunities.
