About the role

We’re looking for a hands‑on Management / Project Accountant to join our Finance team and help drive strong financial outcomes across our construction projects. This role puts you close to the action, partnering with project managers and site teams to ensure project costs, margins, WIP, and revenue are clearly understood and actively managed from start to finish. Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, you’ll take ownership of project‑level financial performance, combining strong attention to detail with commercial insight.

What you’ll do

  • Own project cost control, margin tracking, WIP and revenue recognition
  • Review and maintain accurate project transactions, accruals, and allocations
  • Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying risks early
  • Prepare clear, reliable project financial reports for operational leaders
  • Support project setup, budgets, and forecast updates in financial systems
  • Work closely with Accounts Administration to improve data quality and processes
  • Use Xero and Nexvia (or similar) to ensure project and GL alignment
  • Provide support during month‑end and reporting cycles

What you’ll bring

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or similar (Ideally CA or working towards CA)
  • Proven project accounting experience, ideally in construction or contracting
  • Strong understanding of WIP, revenue recognition, and margin management
  • Confidence partnering with operational teams and explaining financial insights
  • A disciplined, detail‑driven approach with a proactive “margin ownership” mindset
  • 2+ years post qualification experience
