Workshop Supervisor

 

Summary:

Lead our Workshop and keep the extensive fleet moving. Taggart is looking for an experienced and hands-on Workshop Supervisor to lead our Workshop Team of light and heavy mechanics.

The Workshop Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of our workshop in Belfast, Christchurch, ensuring that all mechanical work is carried out to the highest standards. This role is crucial for maintaining our fleet and contributing to the overall success of the business.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise workshop staff, ensuring effective allocation of tasks and resources.
  • Oversee and assist the maintenance and repair of light and heavy mechanical equipment.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures within the workshop.
  • Prioritise and allocate servicing, repair work and preventative maintenance.
  • Co-ordinate breakdown repair requests and on-site repairs.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to support project requirements and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for workshop staff.
  • Minimise downtime of fleet and maximise workshop efficiencies.
  • Day to day repairs and maintenance

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a workshop management role, preferably in the mechanical sector.
  • Senior level of expertise in light and heavy vehicles/plant.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to workshop environments.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Relevant technical qualifications or certifications.
  • Previous experience supervising/managing a workshop.
  • Full clean drivers licence.
  • Experienced in major component rebuilds of heavy plant and on road vehicles.
