Our Story.

Taggart was founded in 1953 by Cantabrian Ron Taggart, and what started as a small, hands-on operation has grown into one of the region’s leading construction companies, built on the same values Ron started with and carried forward by the people who’ve been part of it ever since.

Over the decades, our teams have helped shape the city we call home, from the Christchurch Town Hall to the University of Canterbury, Christchurch Public Hospital and Lancaster Park, alongside countless subdivisions, sports complexes and street reconstruction projects, so there’s a good chance you’ve driven past something we’ve had a hand in.

Today, we’re still family-owned, with more than 100 people, 100+ machines and nearly 40 trucks working out of three locations across Christchurch, and over 70 years on, we’re an award-winning name in Civil Construction, 3 Waters and Demolition.
