Heavy Haulage Driver

Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Haulage Driver to join our team in Christchurch, Canterbury. This permanent, full-time position is crucial for the successful transportation of heavy plant and equipment between our yards and sites.

Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy haulage vehicles to transport plant and equipment to various locations.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
• Plan and follow efficient routes to minimise delays and ensure timely deliveries.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage and fuel consumption.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while transporting heavy machinery.
• Self-loading/unloading.
• Communicate effectively with site managers and other team members to coordinate deliveries.
• At times work unsupervised.
• Be available for early start/late finishes and emergency works callouts.
• Work in a team environment.
• Provide other driving assistance as and when required.

Qualifications:

• Valid Heavy Vehicle Licence (Class 5) with WTR & Forklift Endorsements.
• Clean driving record.
• Current BESS.
• Understanding of overweight permits.
• Proven experience as a heavy haulage driver, preferably in the building and construction industry.
• Local knowledge would be an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices.
• Ability to operate various types of heavy machinery and equipment.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
• A commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
