The New Zealand Law Society Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Engagement and Membership Advisor to support the In-house Lawyers Association of New Zealand (ILANZ), the professional community for New Zealand’s in-house lawyers. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in growing member engagement, delivering high-profile events, and helping shape the future of the in-house legal profession.
About the role
Reporting to the ILANZ Manager, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality membership services, communications, events, and engagement initiatives that provide value to ILANZ members across New Zealand.
No two days will be the same. You’ll be involved in:
- Creating engaging member communications, including email bulletins, social media content, and marketing collateral.
- Supporting the development and delivery of ILANZ’s webinar, networking, and professional development programmes.
- Playing a pivotal role in the delivery of the annual ILANZ Conference, including marketing, awards, speaker processes, branding, and event coordination.
- Building strong relationships with members, committee representatives, sponsors, and key stakeholders.
- Managing membership databases and providing valuable member insights and reporting.
- Maintaining and updating the ILANZ website and online member resources.

We’re looking for someone who is organised, creative, and passionate about delivering outstanding member experiences.
To be successful, you’ll bring:
- At least three years’ experience in event management, marketing, member engagement, or a similar role.
- Strong communication and stakeholder relationship management skills.
- Experience creating engaging content across multiple channels.
- A keen interest in business and current affairs.
- Confidence working with senior professionals and presenting to groups.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience using CRM systems, databases, websites, Microsoft Office applications, and digital event platforms.
- A proactive, customer-focused approach and a continuous improvement mindset.
- An understanding of the legal profession or experience working within a membership organisation would be advantageous but is not essential.
