Habitat is seeking an experienced Accountant who enjoys
working with numbers, has a sharp eye for detail, and is passionate about
turning financial data into meaningful insights. Reporting to the CFO, this
role is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of
financial reporting across the organisation.
The Accountant will take ownership of the month-end close
process, support budgeting and forecasting activities, maintain strong
financial controls, and provide valuable financial analysis to support
operational and strategic decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for
someone who wants to play a key role in the organisation’s financial
performance while contributing to work that makes a genuine difference in the
community.
You will also provide guidance and oversight to the Assistant
Accountant and Accounts Administrator, helping ensure the smooth operation of
the finance function.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Managing balance
sheet reconciliations and maintaining financial controls.
- Preparing
budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis to support decisions.
- Maintaining fixed
assets, finance leases, and statutory compliance.
- Preparing audit
working papers and ensuring audit readiness.
- Supporting
operational finance activities, including AP reviews and payments.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 3-5 years accounting experience in a housing or similar industry
- Accounting diploma or technical qualification
- Strong technical ability and attention to detail
- Good analytical and problem-solving ability
- Good stakeholder management and relationship building skills
