Ghella | Civil Engineering Summer Internships

 

We are seeking self motivated and enthusiastic Summer Interns to join our newest project, the Herne Bay Collector, located at Point Erin in Auckland’s’ CBD. These internships offer a unique opportunity to gain hands-on work experience working alongside our highly skilled local and international teams. These will be a fixed term contracts running from mid-November 2026 to mid-February 2027.

About the project:

The Herne Bay Collector is located adjacent to the Waitematā Harbour, the new infrastructure will significantly reduce wastewater and stormwater overflows into the environment. The project consists of a 1.7km-long, 2.1m-diameter wastewater tunnel, seven main shafts, three intermediate shafts, overflow connections to existing engineered overflow points, and a control chamber at Pt Erin Park in Auckland. This chamber will connect the Herne Bay Collector into the Central Interceptor system, forming part of Auckland’s wider wastewater network.

  • About You:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering | Construction Management | or similar
  • You will be ready to complete your professional hours
  • Ideally previous internship experience in the construction sector, but that is not essential
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and technically savvy
  • Possess a curiosity and interest to work in the construction industry and ideally tunnelling
  • Excellent communicator, with the ability to build and maintain relationships
  • A full Class1 driver’s license
