DM is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Accountant to join our team in Te Aroha. About the Role

As a Graduate Accountant, you will work closely with our senior accountants and advisors to provide high-quality services to our clients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and management reports
  • Processing and reviewing accounting records
  • Preparing GST returns and other compliance requirements
  • Reconciling bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts
  • Assisting with tax compliance and advisory work
  • Supporting the preparation of year-end accounts
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients and colleagues
  • A willingness to learn and develop professionally
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Sound computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • An interest in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), and a willingness to embrace new tools that improve efficiency, accuracy, and client service

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

  • Experience using Xero accounting software
  • Familiarity with New Zealand tax legislation and financial reporting requirements
  • Commencement of, or intention to commence, a professional qualification such as CA ANZ
