About the role 

The People & Culture Business Partner is a 12-month fixed-term role covering parental leave, reporting to the Founder. It provides hands-on, day-to-day P&C support across performance management, culture, reward and recognition, and compliance and policy for team members in Australia, the US and UK/EU.

The role also administers Learning & Development, including managing the LMS to ensure consistent, well-tracked training and compliance learning across Australia, the US and EMEA.

You’ll be the go-to person for our leaders and team on everyday people matters, and you’ll help us keep building a lean, tech-enabled P&C function.

We’d love someone who can work hybrid from our head office in Mornington, but we’re open to remote arrangements for the right person.

What you’ll do

  • Administer and support the performance management framework, including probation reviews, annual/bi-annual review cycles, goal-setting processes and performance improvement plans.
  • Support people leaders to have effective, timely performance conversations, including day-to-day guidance on underperformance and grievances, escalating complex cases to the Founder. 
  • Coordinate performance review cycles end-to-end, including tracking completion, providing reminders, and reporting on outcomes to the Founder. 
  • Coordinate our culture and engagement activity, including surveys, recognition programs and events that connect a distributed team
  • Administer our Learning Management System, assign training, and report on completion and compliance learning
  • Prepare contracts, employment letters, policies and lifecycle paperwork (promotions, role changes, exits)
  • Keep our HRIS (Employment Hero for AU, Trinet for US) accurate, and provide regular People reporting
  • Draft, develop and maintain company policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with current legislation in both jurisdictions.
  • Support and guide our Recruitment, Onboarding & Engagement Advisor
  • Use AI and automation tools to make our processes simpler and faster
  • Create and maintain employment contracts, job descriptions, organisational charts, organisation announcements, employment letters and performance management documentation.
  • Prepare paperwork and manage process for employee lifecycle changes (e.g. promotions, redundancies, terminations). 

About you

  • 4-6 years’ experience in a HR or People & Culture generalist or advisor role
  • Hands-on experience with performance management, employee relations and engagement
  • Working knowledge of Australian employment law and Modern Awards (US/UK exposure is a bonus, not a must)
  • Experience with an HRIS and, ideally, an LMS
  • Curious about AI and automation, with a bias for simplifying process
  • Organised, detail-focused and trusted with confidential matters
  • Comfortable working with a Founder and senior leaders, and happy to roll your sleeves up
  • Tertiary qualification in HR, Psychology or a related field is desirable
