Western Queensland PHN (WQPHN) is looking for an experienced People & Culture professional to support our leaders and employees while helping strengthen workforce capability, organisational culture and employee engagement across the organisation. 

This is a unique opportunity to work across the full employee lifecycle in a role that combines operational People & Culture delivery with opportunities to contribute to workforce planning, organisational development and continuous improvement initiatives. 

About Western Queensland PHN 

Western Queensland Primary Health Network (WQPHN) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation funded by the Australian Government to strengthen primary health care across Western Queensland.

The Role 

WQPHN is seeking a People & Culture Coordinator / Adviser to provide dedicated People & Culture support across the organisation. 

Working closely with leaders and employees, you will support a broad range of workforce activities including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, workforce planning, learning and development, employee wellbeing, policy development and workforce reporting. 

This role provides an opportunity to support both day-to-day People & Culture operations and longer-term workforce initiatives that contribute to a positive, engaged and high-performing workplace. 

Recognising the importance of attracting the right candidate, we are open to considering applicants with varying levels of People & Culture experience, we are also open to appointing the role on either a 0.8 FTE or 1.0 FTE basis for the right candidate, the role will be an initial 12-month appointment with the option to extend. 

Key Responsibilities 

In this role, you will: 

  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, induction and employee lifecycle activities. 
  • Provide People & Culture advice, guidance and support to leaders and employees. 
  • Support workforce planning, succession planning and organisational capability initiatives. 
  • Coordinate learning and development, employee wellbeing and employee engagement activities. 
  • Develop, review and maintain People & Culture policies, procedures and workforce resources. 
  • Prepare workforce reporting, compliance documentation and governance reporting. 
  • Maintain employee records, People & Culture systems and workforce documentation. 
  • Support performance management, employee relations and workplace investigations as required. 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance employee experience and organisational effectiveness. 
  • Collaborate across the organisation to promote positive workplace culture and support strategic workforce priorities. 

The Right Person 

You are a people-focused professional who enjoys building relationships, solving problems and helping others succeed. Whether your background is as a Human Resources Coordinator, People & Culture Adviser, HR Generalist or a similar role, you bring a practical, collaborative approach and enjoy working across a broad range of workforce matters. 

You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy balancing operational delivery with opportunities to contribute to workforce capability, employee experience and organisational culture. You are comfortable working autonomously, partnering with leaders and employees, and taking ownership of activities across the full employee lifecycle. 

You will bring: 

  • Qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Management or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. 
  • Experience working in a Human Resources or People & Culture environment. 
  • Sound understanding of Australian employment legislation and contemporary People & Culture practices. 
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle activities. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of an organisation. 
  • Highly developed organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. 
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality. 
  • Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement skills. 
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint and workforce management systems. 
  • A current unrestricted driver’s licence. 

Desirable but not required 

  • Experience providing employee relations advice and support. 
  • Experience developing workforce policies, procedures and resources. 
  • Experience supporting workforce planning, organisational development or capability-building initiatives. 
  • Previous experience in the not-for-profit, health, government or community services sectors. 
  • Experience supporting internal communications, employee engagement or organisational culture initiatives.
