The Royal Oak Hotel is looking for an experienced, hands-on Assistant Manager to join our management team in the heart of Double Bay.
The Royal Oak is a busy, established Eastern Suburbs pub with a strong local following. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being on the floor, leading a team and creating a great pub experience — someone who notices the details, takes ownership and knows how to run a strong service.

The Role
Working closely with the General Manager and venue management team, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the hotel.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading shifts and ensuring smooth day-to-day venue operations
- Being visible, hands-on and present on the floor during service
- Leading, motivating and supporting the front-of-house team
- Maintaining high standards of customer service, cleanliness and venue presentation
- Ensuring the venue is set, stocked and ready for trade
- Monitoring service standards and stepping in wherever the team needs support
- Managing opening and closing procedures
- Cash handling and other shift management responsibilities
- Supporting stock control, ordering and operational processes
- Managing customer feedback and resolving issues professionally
- Maintaining RSA, gaming, WHS and other compliance requirements
- Supporting the training and development of team members
- Working with the management team to continually improve the venue and customer experience
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in a hospitality management or supervisory role
- Is confident leading a team and running a busy service
- Leads from the floor rather than from the office
- Has a strong eye for detail and takes pride in venue presentation
- Understands what great pub service looks like
- Is proactive — you notice what needs doing and get it sorted
- Communicates well with customers and team members
- Remains organised and makes good decisions under pressure
- Is reliable, positive and comfortable taking ownership of a shift
- Holds a current NSW RSA and relevant gaming competency/licence requirements
Previous experience in a busy pub environment will be highly regarded.
