🎯 About the Opportunity

WEG Australia is seeking an experienced Sales & Application Engineer to join our growing team in Scoresby.

The primary function of this position is to deliver technical, application, sales and commercial support across WEG’s full range of Motors Business Unit products, with a particular focus on geared motors and gearbox solutions, while ensuring exceptional customer service is maintained at all times.

You will provide pre- and post-sales support to WEG staff, OEMs, end users and distributors, including application reviews, product selection, specifications, quotations and technical support for WEG motors, geared motors and gearbox products. A key focus of the role will be developing technically sound and commercially competitive geared motor and gearbox solutions to support the continued growth of the Gears business.

🔧 What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing pre-sales and post-sales support for WEG motors, geared motors, gearboxes, generators and related rotating equipment
  • Assisting customers with product selection, application reviews, specifications and technical solutions
  • Providing technical support, fault-finding assistance and product recommendations
  • Responding to customer enquiries professionally and efficiently
  • Liaising with WEG factories and internal service teams on technical and warranty-related matters
  • Developing and supporting sales and marketing tools
  • Delivering technical presentations, product demonstrations and training sessions
  • Providing commercial and logistics support to interstate offices and customers
  • Conducting technical and commercial benchmarking activities
  • Preparing quotations and commercially competitive solutions
  • Performing application calculations relating to motor performance, torque, speed, power and equipment sizing
  • Working with customers and the sales team to develop tailored solutions
  • Assisting with tenders, project submissions and commercial proposals
  • Providing order management and project support as required
  • Representing WEG at industry exhibitions, trade shows and customer events

⭐ Who We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Relevant Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification, or a minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with motors, gears, generators, transformers or similar rotating equipment
  • Experience in application engineering, product selection and fault-finding relating to the operation of electric motors
  • Sound understanding of torque, speed and power
  • Proficiency with AC and DC electric motors, generators and transformers
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Experience using ERP systems and other internal business software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
  • Confidence in delivering technical presentations, product training and public speaking engagements

Desirable

  • Business degree, diploma or other commercial qualification
  • Awareness of relevant IEC and AS/NZS standards
  • Commercial experience and/or application engineering experience within industrial products
  • Hands-on experience with the installation and troubleshooting of motors, generators, transformers, gearboxes or related products
  • Experience training, mentoring and supporting colleagues to develop their technical skills and knowledge
  • Strong business writing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in technical and commercial correspondence
