In Western Australia, our multidisciplinary team of environmental approvals, closure, ecological, social and spatial consultants delivers projects across the mining, renewable energy, infrastructure, government and Defence sectors throughout WA and nationally. As demand for our services continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Consultant/s to join our Perth Environment team. 

About the Role:  

As a Senior Environmental Consultant you will play a key role in delivering complex environmental projects and providing trusted advice to clients across the mining, renewables and infrastructure sectors. 

We are particularly interested in professionals who bring experience in Western Australia in either or both: 

  • WA Mine Rehabilitation | Closure Planning and/or 
  • WA Mining Environmental Approvals | Impact Assessment & Operations Compliance 

Depending on your expertise, you will work on a diverse portfolio of mining and related projects predominantly in Western Australia, supporting clients through environmental approvals, impact assessments, mine closure planning, rehabilitation strategies, environmental management and operational compliance.

Key Responsibilities:  

Mine Rehabilitation & Closure Planning Focus 

  • Prepare and review/update Mine Closure Plans, closure strategies and cost estimates 
  • Support progressive mine rehabilitation, compliance monitoring and post-closure activities 
  • Integrate practical environmental, social and operational considerations into closure planning 
  • Provide advice to clients on their closure knowledge base, risks/priorities, regulatory requirements and leading practice 
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated and sustainable closure solutions 

Mining Environmental Approvals & Compliance Focus 

  • Develop/execute mining environmental impact assessments and approvals strategies 
  • Prepare approvals documentation and coordinate related technical studies/inputs 
  • Navigate complex State (Western Australia) and Commonwealth regulatory frameworks 
  • Develop/secure environmental management plans and other secondary approvals to enable mining 
  • Advise/support clients through regulatory approvals processes and compliance management during operations 
  • Liaise with clients, regulators and other key project stakeholders 

General Responsibilities 

  • Manage projects, including scope, budget, schedule and resourcing 
  • Deliver consistent high-quality technical work and project outcomes 
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships 
  • Prepare proposals and contribute to business development activities 
  • Mentor junior consultants and support team capability development and growth 

About You 

You will be an experienced environmental or related professional who enjoys solving complex challenges, building effective and valued client relationships and reliably delivering high-quality work. 

You will bring: 

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Planning or a related discipline. 
  • Approximately 5+ years’ experience in mining in industry, environmental consulting and/or regulation. 
  • Demonstrated experience in mining in Western Australia in: Environmental approvals, impact assessment and strategy; and/or Closure planning/execution, progressive rehabilitation and strategy 
  • Strong understanding of relevant WA environmental legislation, policies and regulatory frameworks 
  • Experience managing projects, budgets and client relationships 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • The ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams 
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and commitment to technical excellence
