PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Assistant in Nursing provides safe, person centred and effective care as well as supports care recipients in residential aged care facilities and acute hospitals in accordance with legislation, the relevant standards, and organisations policies and procedures and accepts responsibility and accountability for his/her own professional practice and actions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Consistently delivers a high standard of client focused care.
- Operates professionally and efficiently within an Assistant in Nursing scope of practice.
- Respects and maintains client confidentiality and privacy in all circumstances.
- Receives handover at the commencement of each and every shift and ensures that they understand what each client needs and are their preferences.
- Plans and prioritises care in consultation with either the Registered Nurse, or Enrolled Nurse, or Team Leader.
- Adheres to the relevant standards in which care is being provided.
- Follows procedures correctly and maintains safe nursing care practices.
- Ensures correct infection control practices.
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, whilst maintaining a flexible approach when delivering care.
- Immediately reports any changes or deterioration in a clients condition to the Registered Nurse, Enrolled Nurse or Team Leader.
- Works effectively with culturally diverse clients and their families/carers.
- Uses resources effectively and efficiently.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Current qualifications for any of the following:
- Certificate III in Health Services Assistant (Acute Care)
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Ageing Specialisation) – with or without medication competency
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Home & Community Specialisation) – with or without medication competency
- Certificate III in IV Individual Support (Disability Specialisation) – with or without medication competency
- Certificate III in IV Aged Care – with or without medication competency
- Certificate III in IV Disability – with or without medication competency
- Certificate III in IV Home and Community – with or without medication competency
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent interpersonal skills, which may include conflict resolution strategies and assertiveness
- Recent clinical experience relevant to the position and commitment to quality improvement, practice development and evidence-based practice.
- Compliant with National Criminal Record and Working with Children Background checks.
- Compliant with NDIS Worker Check – mandatory if wanting to work in Aged Care.
- Right to Work in Australia.
- Willingness to participate in and comply with the NSW Health policy for screening, assessment and vaccination
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
The role and responsibilities are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with all relevant delegations, policies
