Description
Be Part of History
The Tasmania Devils Football Club is on a historic journey to build a professional AFL/AFLW club from the ground up. We are assembling a passionate and committed team to connect with fans across Tasmania and beyond, creating experiences that inspire pride, loyalty, and belonging.
Role Purpose
The Commercial Development Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the financial sustainability and commercial growth of the Club, bringing local businesses into the Club’s story ahead of our first AFL season in 2028. Reporting to the Head of Commercial, this is a hands-on, relationship-led sales role.
You’ll be the Club’s face in Tasmania’s business community, out meeting local businesses and bringing them into the Club through corporate hospitality and B2B opportunities, with exposure to major partnerships along the way. This is a rare chance to help shape the Club’s go-to-market approach and to be part of the team that delivers it on match day.
Core Responsibilities
Sales & Revenue Generation
- Sell corporate hospitality, B2B programs, player sponsorship, signage and events to businesses across Tasmania.
- Build a strong pipeline through high-volume external engagement, meeting clients face to face and owning sales and partnerships conversations from first meeting to close.
- Tailor packages to clients with very different budgets and expectations, from small local businesses to larger corporates.
- Build, nurture and retain client relationships, driving high satisfaction and renewal.
- Support the Head of Commercial and GM Commercial on major partnership opportunities.
Shape the Hospitality Offering
- Help design the Club’s hospitality program, pricing and go-to-market strategy ahead of the 2028 season.
- Bring fresh ideas to create a high-quality, innovative match day experience.
- Advance systems and technology that support seamless ticketing and match day delivery.
Client Experience & Collaboration
- Act as the key point of contact from close through to delivery and ongoing relationship.
- Work with Finance, Brand & Marketing, Membership and Community to align commercial programs with broader Club objectives.
- Represent the Club at business and networking events, positioning TFC as a bold, progressive and values-led organisation.
Pipeline, Reporting & Budget
- Maintain accurate pipeline and client records in the Club’s CRM.
- Contribute to annual commercial plans, revenue forecasts and budgets.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on performance, opportunities and risks.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in B2B or relationship-led sales. Backgrounds in hospitality, food and beverage, events, sponsorship or corporate sales are all highly relevant. AFL experience is not essential.
- A self-starter who is comfortable running sales conversations independently and gets energy from being in front of clients and partners.
- Confidence working with clients across a wide range of budgets and expectations.
- Commercially sharp, organised and disciplined with pipeline management.
- Strong local networks across Tasmania’s business community are a real advantage.
- A genuine passion for sport, community and Tasmania.
The Fine Print
- This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help build Tasmania’s first AFL Club.
- Hobart-based, with regular travel across Tasmania and some out-of-hours work, particularly on match days.
- A collaborative and inclusive culture with attractive benefits including quarterly wellbeing days and additional off-season leave
- Work that matters, a team that backs you, and a chance to be part of something truly historic
- Salary guidance of $90,000–$110,000 + superannuation, commensurate with experience
