About Sport Stadium Management and Basketball NSW
Sport Stadium Management (SSM) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Basketball NSW, operating multi-purpose indoor sporting facilities across NSW, including Bathurst, Minto, and Coffs Harbour. SSM’s role is to provide well-run, accessible community sport and recreation spaces, supporting local competitions, school and holiday programs, casual hire, and a range of indoor sports beyond basketball. About the Position
As the Assistant Stadium Manager of the Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium, you will be responsible for day-to-day operations and management of the Centre. The role is a temporary position covering a parental leave role (September 2026 to January 2027). After the temporary position, there is the opportunity to pick up the role permanently on a part-time basis.
About Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium
Located in Bathurst, Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium is a four court multi-purpose sporting and recreation facility which offers a range of competitions, programs, from after school, to facility hire for team competition. The Centre also includes: versatile meeting room spaces, player’s amenities, and a café. The Centre caters to a wide range of activities year round. These activities include indoor sports such as Basketball, Pickleball, Futsal, Netball, Volleyball, and Multisport, plus exhibitions and numerous other indoor events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Centre Supervision & Safety
- Supervise and direct casual and rostered staff during shift, providing clear direction and on-the-job guidance
- Open and/or close the Centre in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Coordinate court bookings and manage the daily schedule of activities
- Set up and pack down sports courts and equipment as required (including manual/heavy lifting, following safe manual handling practice)
- Maintain a safe workplace for staff, participants, and visitors, including administering first aid where required and reporting incidents in line with BNSW WHS procedures
- Apply child safe practices when supervising programs involving children, including maintaining appropriate supervision ratios and responding to concerns in line with policy
Facility & General Maitenance
- Carry out minor maintenance tasks, including changing nets on basketball rings
- Identify and report facility defects (e.g. leaking toilets, loose toilet seats) to the Stadium Manager
- Operate and maintain the court floor scrubber and other facility equipment
- Coordinate sub-contractors attending site for maintenance or repairs
Cleaning & Presentation
- Clean and scrub court floors in line with the Centre’s cleaning schedule
- Maintain cleanliness of toilets, amenities, and common areas, including restocking consumables (e.g. toilet paper)
- Empty and reline bins as required
Kiosk Operations
- Serve customers and operate the point-of-sale (Kounta) system
- Restock, clean, and maintain kiosk stock levels, following food safety and stock rotation practices
Administration
- Respond to phone and walk-in enquiries and process bookings
- Maintain the bookings system and complete job costing for facility hire
- Raise hire agreements/applications for hirers
- Collect and distribute mail; liaise with Council staff as required
- Assist with updates to the Centre’s website and social media channels
- Order kiosk and cleaning supplies within approved budget
Marketing & Programs
- Support the promotion of new and existing sport and recreation programs
- Assist in the initiation and delivery of new programs and activities at the Centre
Financial Administration
- Complete weekly cash reconciliations in line with cash handling procedures
- Follow up outstanding invoices and enter supplier bills
- Raise purchase orders and complete banking as required

SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
- Experience working in a sports centre/stadium, health club, or equivalent facility
- Experience developing and/or delivering programs in a sport or recreation environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Current First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
- Current Working With Children Check
- Ability and willingness to work evening and weekend shifts, including school holiday and carnival periods
Desirable
- Barista trained or experienced
- Food handling and preparation experience / current NSW Food Safety Supervisor certificate
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Diploma, Degree, or Certificate III in Fitness/Sport & Recreation) or equivalent industry experience
- Current coaching/officiating certificate or licence in an indoor sport
- Current valid Australian driver’s licence
