South Pacific Health brings together three of Australia’s most respected private mental health, addiction and trauma services: South Pacific Private, The Banyans and Byron Private, across Queensland and New South Wales, with growth on the horizon. We exist to change lives and heal families, and we do it by providing holistic, evidence-based treatment for addiction, trauma and mental health.

Great clinical care starts with a workforce that is well led and well supported. We are looking for a People and Culture leader who is energised by the chance to take this function forward, deepen it across every site, and shape how South Pacific Health grows. This is a role for someone who wants their fingerprints on what we build from here.

The role

As People & Culture Manager you lead the people function for the whole group. You report to the CEO, sit on the Senior Leadership Team, and partner with site General Managers and the executive on workforce planning, employee relations and culture. You set the strategy and you deliver it, with plenty of room to make the function your own.

What you’ll lead

• The people and culture strategy across every site, built around how the group actually operates and where it is headed
• Recruitment and onboarding for clinical and non-clinical roles, ensuring attract the right people and retain them
• Employee relations, including performance, grievances, investigations and the harder conversations that come with a healthcare workforce
• HR compliance and policy, keeping us current and defensible against the Fair Work Act, NES, modern awards,  and healthcare regulation
• Payroll governance and HRIS integrity, working closely with Finance and our Payroll and People Officer
• Learning, development and the annual performance cycle
• Staff engagement, wellbeing and safety, in an environment where the work is meaningful and the emotional load is real

Who we’re looking for

This role suits someone who is commercially minded and people-centred in equal measure. You will hold a budget line and a duty of care at the same time without losing grasp on either. You stay calm and clear when in tense or challenging situations, and treat every stakeholder with dignity and respect. You earn trust quickly, from frontline staff through to the executive, because people can feel that you are steady and that you are committed to a strong outcome for all involved.

You are technically strong, with Fair Work, awards, the NES and healthcare compliance. And are comfortable in both shaping strategy and delivering on the everyday as well. Above all, you are driven by the belief that people do their best work when they feel supported, and you want to be the one who makes that true across the group. The way you lead reflects what we value as an organisation: respect, excellence and integrity.

A background in healthcare, disability, aged care or community services will help you hit the ground running. This role requires hands-on experience interpreting and applying the awards that cover our workforce: the SCHADS Award, the Health Professionals and Support Services (HPSS) Award, and the Nurses Award. A degree in HR, business, psychology or a related field is expected.
