Role Type
Description
Help us rethink how software gets built at REIWA.
REIWA is entering an exciting period of change. Technology sits at the heart of how we support Western Australia’s real estate profession – from reiwa.com and our property data platforms to member services, integrations, Salesforce and the digital tools our members rely on every day.
We’re looking for a Head of ICT Development to lead our software development capability and, importantly, drive its continued evolution.
This isn’t simply a role to manage an established development process. We want someone who will challenge it, bring contemporary thinking and help shape a development model that is simpler, faster, and increasingly enabled by AI and automation.
The Opportunity
You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team of highly experienced developers, solution architects and test analysts, with the mandate to evolve REIWA’s development operating model.
You’ll look across the entire development lifecycle – from understanding a business problem through to prototyping, development, testing and release – and ask how we can make it simpler, faster and better.
You’ll:
- Lead, coach and strengthen a high-performing multidisciplinary development team;
- Challenge complexity, reduce unnecessary hand-offs and evolve established ways of working;
- Strengthen Agile, DevOps and engineering practices that improve flow, quality and delivery;
- Explore and embed the use of AI and automation where they improve requirements, prototyping, development, code review, testing and documentation;
- Advance automated testing, CI/CD and release practices so we can deliver confidently and more frequently;
- Bring rigour to prioritisation and technology investment, making clear choices about where limited capacity will create the greatest business and member value;
- Make considered build, buy or partner decisions based on business need, capability, risk, whole-of-life cost and expected value; and
- Own and manage development budgets and technology partners, ensuring spend is well controlled, vendors are accountable for delivery, and technology investment delivers demonstrable business return and member value.
You’ll also be accountable for the technical delivery and ongoing reliability of REIWA’s key digital platforms across our .NET, Azure, Salesforce, integration and data environments.
What you will bring
We’re looking for a technology leader who can build on strong technical capability while challenging how we think about and delivery software solutions.
You’ll bring:
- Proven leadership of high-performing software engineering or development teams with the ability to set direction, strengthen capability and create accountability;
- A track record of improving how software moves from business need through design, development, testing and release;
- Strong technical credibility across software engineering, architecture and contemporary development practices, ideally within Microsoft .NET and Azure environments;
- Sound commercial judgement, including the discipline to prioritise ruthlessly when there are more good ideas than available capacity, while balancing value, cost and risk;
- The ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and external partners, translating complex technology decisions into clear business choices; and
- curiosity, judgement and a willingness to challenge constructively while bringing others with you through change.
Experience with Salesforce, high-traffic digital platforms, APIs, integrations or legacy modernisation would be highly regarded.
Why REIWA?
For more than 100 years, REIWA has played a unique role in Western Australia’s property industry. Increasingly, our ability to deliver that role depends on great technology.
This is an opportunity to influence not only what we build, but how we build it.
We’re looking for someone curious enough to understand what we have, experienced enough to recognise what needs to change and pragmatic enough to make that change stick.
If you’re excited by the opportunity to build the capability as well as the technology, we’d like to hear from you.
