As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is intentionally flexible, with the appointment level determined by the successful candidate’s capability, technical expertise and potential to contribute. About the Role
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, developing and delivering high-quality C++ software for advanced hardware products.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you’ll contribute across the full product lifecycle from concept and prototype through to production, integration and customer support.
You’ll collaborate closely with Electronics, FPGA and Systems Engineers to develop innovative solutions that transform advanced research into commercially deployable products.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, develop and integrate high-quality software for advanced technology products, including embedded applications.
- Develop software across the full product lifecycle, including prototype, development, production and support.
- Design software architectures and implement robust, maintainable code.
- Develop unit, integration and acceptance tests.
- Debug software and hardware interactions across embedded systems.
- Maintain software development environments and toolchains.
- Apply secure software development, configuration management and change control practices.
- Contribute to technical planning, estimation and risk management.
- Produce clear technical documentation.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
About You
We’re looking for engineers who are curious, collaborative and enjoy solving complex technical problems. We’re interested in people who demonstrate many of the following capabilities. We don’t expect every candidate to meet every criterion, and the successful applicant will be appointed at a level aligned to their capability, skills and experience.
You’ll ideally bring:
- A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Experience developing software using C/C++, with Python or other relevant programming language experience highly regarded.
- Experience developing software for embedded systems, low-level hardware integrations
or other performance-critical software environments.
- An understanding of software development throughout the product lifecycle.
- Experience with software testing, debugging and version control.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- A commitment to quality, continuous learning and continuous improvement.
- Experience working with Embedded Linux, RTOS technologies, hardware integration, or
within Defence, Space or other high-reliability environments will be highly regarded but is not essential.
