Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Enrolled Nurse to join our Newman Clinic team. This rewarding role provides an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through the delivery of high-quality, culturally appropriate primary health care services.
About the Role
Reporting to the Clinical Lead – Newman Clinic, the Screening Nurse will play a key role in delivering evidence-based primary health care services, health promotion, preventative care, and chronic disease management programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting health assessments and screening activities.
- Delivering immunisation programs and preventative health initiatives.
- Supporting chronic disease management, care planning, and health checks.
- Performing clinical procedures including phlebotomy, wound care, ECGs, and patient triage.
- Supporting child health, men’s health, women’s health, and antenatal care programs.
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and patient records.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external healthcare providers.
- Providing patient education and promoting positive health outcomes.
About You
To be successful, you will have:
Essential Criteria
- Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated understanding of primary health care principles and Aboriginal health issues.
- Commitment to culturally safe and appropriate healthcare practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience using electronic patient information systems such as Communicare.
- Effective organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Completion of the SA Immunisation Course.
- Current unrestricted C-Class Driver’s Licence.
Desirable
- Previous experience working in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services or remote primary healthcare settings.
- Experience working effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
