Description

The role

We’re looking for multiple Mechanical Fitters with mining lubrication and/or brake experience to join our mining team on a casual/shutdown basis. Whether you’re a lube specialist, a brake specialist or you do both, we want to hear from you.

You’ll be working on a client’s iron ore site, so previous field experience in lubrication and/or brake servicing in an iron ore mining environment is essential.

What you’ll do

  • Carry out lubrication services on fixed plant to OEM specifications and site maintenance plans
  • Service, inspect and maintain brake systems on fixed plant to OEM specifications and site maintenance plans
  • Take oil samples and carry out contamination control and condition monitoring, with accurate labelling and handling
  • Inspect equipment, including brake components, for wear, leaks, damage or abnormal operation, and raise notifications
  • Complete site documentation accurately and on time, including service reports, digital maintenance records, timesheets, JHAs, Take 5s and resource allocation forms
  • Work to our client’s site safety standards, procedures and permit requirements at all times
  • Safely handle, store and dispose of lubricants, oils and waste in line with environmental and site regulations
  • Work closely with maintenance, reliability and operations teams to keep equipment running and assets performing
  • Keep lubrication bays, service vehicles and work areas clean and orderly
  • Take part in pre-starts, toolbox talks, risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Operate site vehicles and lubrication equipment safely and responsibly

What you’ll bring

  • Mechanical trade qualification (or equivalent)
  • Lubrication experience, or brake service experience, or both. You don’t need to be across everything, just strong in one
  • 1–3 years’ experience in a similar role in a mining environment
  • Hands-on experience servicing lubrication and/or brake systems on heavy mobile equipment and/or fixed plant
  • Sound knowledge of brake servicing and/or lubrication practices, including oil sampling, contamination control and condition monitoring
  • A proven record of working safely under strict site safety systems and procedures
  • Confidence using digital systems for maintenance records, inspections and reports
  • Sharp attention to detail and a proactive approach to spotting and reporting equipment issues
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team in a remote site environment
  • Rio Tinto inductions (advantageous)
