Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Surgical Nurse to join our team. As a Surgical Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care during surgical procedures. Your primary responsibility will be to assist surgeons and other healthcare professionals in the operating room, ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for surgery by conducting pre-operative assessments, obtaining medical histories, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
• Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by providing instruments, supplies, and necessary equipment.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs, anaesthesia administration, and surgical site to ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols.
• Administer medications and intravenous fluids as directed by the surgeon or anaesthesiologist.
• Document patient information, surgical procedures, and post-operative care accurately and timely.
• Educate patients and their families on post-operative care instructions and provide emotional support as needed.

Qualifications:

• Valid nursing license and completion of an accredited nursing program.
• Proven experience as a Surgical Nurse or in a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
• Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical record systems.
