Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (Aged Care) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to elderly residents in our aged care facility. The Registered Nurse will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of residents while adhering to regulatory standards and best practices in aged care.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to elderly residents, including administering medications, managing chronic conditions, and providing wound care.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of residents’ health status and care needs, developing and updating individualised care plans accordingly.
  • Monitor and document residents’ progress, changes in condition, and responses to treatments, ensuring accurate and timely records.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, physiotherapists, and social workers, to coordinate and optimise resident care.
  • Provide emotional support and counselling to residents and their families, addressing concerns and enhancing the quality of life.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and facility policies related to aged care and infection control.
  • Assist with the training and supervision of junior nursing staff and care workers, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of care policies and procedures.
  • Handle emergency situations and provide appropriate interventions and support as required.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for residents, including managing behavioural issues and ensuring respect for individual dignity and privacy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Proven experience in aged care nursing or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of aged care principles, including chronic disease management, palliative care, and gerontology.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to care, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and nursing documentation.
