Description

Summary:

The Medical Coder will work in the Healthcare and Medical industry and will be responsible for creating accurate, detailed, and consistent medical codes for medical procedures, diagnosis, and treatments to ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and health insurance policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Review patient medical records, provider documentation, and billing data to assign appropriate medical codes for ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCs, and other codes.
  • Analyse and interpret patient medical charts and procedures to ensure the accurate assignment of codes and diagnoses.
  • Communicate with healthcare professionals and providers to clarify documentation and treatment procedures for accurate coding.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all medical claims, including the submission of appropriate documentation for pre-authorization, appeal, or reimbursement.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest medical coding systems, regulations, and trends in the healthcare industry.
  • Maintain patient information confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or certification in Medical Coding, Health Information Management, or related field.
  • Holding a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Experience in coding and billing in the healthcare industry.
  • Ability to use coding software and electronic medical record systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
