Description

Summary:

The Data Manager is responsible for managing an organisation’s data resources, promoting data quality, and ensuring the implementation of data governance policies. They must possess strong analytical and technical abilities, excellent communication and management skills, and an understanding of current industry trends in data management.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data governance policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Design, develop and maintain database systems and data storage infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain data mapping, data models, and data dictionaries
  • Create best practices for data management, including backup, recovery, and data quality
  • Ensure data is safeguarded against unauthorised access, modification, or destruction
  • Coordinate with the IT team to govern the data integration between various data systems
  • Develop reports and associated data visualisations required for data analysis, interpretation, and decision support
  • Work with business owners to understand their data needs and develop efficient solutions
  • Conduct audits periodically to ensure compliance with data governance policies and regulatory mandates

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or related fields
  • Minimum of three years of experience in data management, including database administration, data analysis, and data governance
  • Proficiency in database management tools such as SQL, Oracle, MySQL, and others
  • Experience in data modelling, meta-data management, and data warehousing
  • Knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
  • Strong leadership skills, problem-solving skills, and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work independently or in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
