Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant in Nursing (AIN) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide essential support to Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality care to residents in our aged care facility. The AIN will assist with daily living activities, monitor residents’ health, and contribute to a positive and supportive environment for both residents and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, eating, and mobility.
- Provide support with medical and healthcare tasks under the supervision of Registered Nurses, such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and performing basic wound care.
- Monitor and document residents’ health status, including changes in condition, and report any concerns to senior nursing staff.
- Assist with recreational and social activities, promoting residents’ engagement and overall well-being.
- Support the maintenance of a clean and safe environment, including the proper handling and disposal of medical waste and adherence to infection control practices.
- Build positive relationships with residents, providing emotional support and companionship to enhance their quality of life.
- Follow care plans and procedures as directed, ensuring that residents receive personalised and respectful care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and participate in team meetings to discuss and review residents’ care needs and progress.
- Assist with the training and orientation of new staff members and contribute to a supportive team environment.
Qualifications:
- Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Individual Support, or a related field.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Previous experience in a similar role within an aged care or healthcare setting is desirable.
- Basic knowledge of aged care principles, including personal care, infection control, and health and safety procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents and work effectively as part of a team.
