About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Advisor plays a key role within our HR team.

This is a hands-on advisory role responsible for proactive talent acquisition and pipeline development, end-to-end recruitment and onboarding, and first-line employee relations support across Paywise. You’ll act as a trusted point of HR advice to people leaders and employees, exercising independent judgement on routine matters and escalating complex or precedent-setting matters.

Your key responsibilities will include:

– Building and maintaining live talent pipelines so shortlists are ready ahead of formal requisitions.

– Sourcing and engaging passive candidates through LinkedIn, job boards, referrals, alumni networks, university and industry partnerships, and targeted market mapping.

– Owning end-to-end recruitment for assigned vacancies — from intake and briefing through to offer acceptance — and progressing each role to agreed time-to-fill expectations.

– Advising hiring managers on role scoping, selection criteria, interview design, market positioning and candidate assessment.

– Preparing offer letters and employment contracts using approved templates, ensuring alignment with the approved requisition and Paywise’s remuneration framework.

– Owning end-to-end onboarding, including pre-boarding, system provisioning, induction and Day 1 through 6 month check-ins.

– Owning the offboarding process, including exit surveys, exit interview coordination and final documentation.

– Driving people and culture initiatives that strengthen engagement, wellbeing, recognition and inclusion across Paywise.

– Acting as the first point of HR advice to people leaders and employees on routine matters, including policy interpretation, leave entitlements, performance conversations, minor conduct issues and flexible-work requests.

– Supporting the Director of Human Resources on more complex ER matters, including investigations, formal performance-management processes.

– Coaching managers to have effective, compliant conversations with their teams under the Fair Work Act, NES and applicable modern awards.

– Administering Culture Amp — survey deployment, reporting, and helping people leaders interpret engagement results.

– Maintaining accurate, current and confidential employee records across all HR systems.

– Preparing HR letters, contract variations and correspondence with accuracy and care.

– Contributing to HR projects and cyclical activity, including engagement, remuneration review, policy refresh and capability planning.

About You

You’re an experienced HR professional looking for something different from a traditional HR role. At Paywise, we don’t operate as a typical HR department — we partner with the business, adapt our frameworks to what’s actually needed, and stay agile so we can move at the pace our leaders and employees do. You’re someone who thrives in that environment and enjoys delivering exceptional experiences for candidates, new hires and employees. You bring a strong sense of ownership, know when to advise with confidence and when to escalate, and are comfortable moving quickly when the business needs you to.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

– 3 to 5 years’ experience in an HR generalist, HR advisory or in-house talent acquisition role within an Australian employer.

– Demonstrated experience owning recruitment end-to-end, including proactive sourcing and pipeline development rather than solely reactive requisition management.

– Demonstrated experience advising people leaders on routine ER, policy and performance matters under the Fair Work framework.

– Working knowledge of the Fair Work Act 2009, the National Employment Standards and modern awards, including multi-state employment obligations.

– Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter, LinkedIn Talent Insights or a comparable sourcing platform.

– Experience preparing HR correspondence and contract variations and maintaining employee records in an HRIS.

– Sound judgement, discretion and a strong personal commitment to confidentiality.

– Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to hold constructive conversations with people leaders and employees at all levels.

– Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a portfolio of concurrent recruitment, onboarding, ER and project activity.

Highly Regarded

– HRIS experience, ideally with Employment Hero, or with a comparable cloud-based HR platform.

– Experience contributing to remuneration review, policy refresh or capability-planning cycles.

– Experience within financial services, salary packaging, novated leasing or a comparable regulated environment.
