Description

Engineering Manager
Pacvac | Kewdale, WA
Product & Innovation | Technical Leadership | Product Development

Pacvac is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our engineering function and help drive the next generation of product innovation.

This is a key leadership role within our Product & Innovation team, suited to someone who enjoys being close to the technical detail while also building, mentoring and guiding a capable engineering team.

You’ll be joining an established Australian business with a strong brand, a clear product purpose, and a genuine focus on quality, customer outcomes and continuous improvement.

The opportunity

As Engineering Manager, you will lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team across mechanical, electronic, firmware and testing capability.

This is not a role where you’ll sit on the sidelines. You’ll be involved in technical decision-making, design reviews, product development, R&D activity, project delivery, testing, compliance, manufacturing improvement and the practical problem-solving required to take products from concept through to launch.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Product & Innovation and collaborate with product, design, QA, operations, suppliers and other key stakeholders to make sure engineering activity is aligned with commercial, customer and product goals.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be responsible for leading the engineering team and providing technical direction across product development, R&D and manufacturing-related engineering activity.

This will include:

  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of engineers
  • Driving technical development across products, systems and platforms
  • Leading design reviews, technical planning and engineering decision-making
  • Supporting product development from concept through to launch
  • Managing engineering timelines, resources, priorities and risks
  • Working closely with product, QA, operations and other internal teams
  • Solving complex technical problems with practical, commercially sound solutions
  • Supporting testing, prototyping, compliance and continuous improvement activity
  • Identifying opportunities to improve design, quality, cost and operational efficiency
  • Building a high-performance engineering culture based on ownership, collaboration and accountability

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for an experienced engineering leader who can balance technical depth with people leadership.

You’ll likely bring:

  • A degree or tertiary qualification in engineering
  • Strong experience across product development, R&D and manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams
  • A track record of taking products from concept through to launch
  • Strong technical judgement and problem-solving ability
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, timelines and technical trade-offs
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A practical, hands-on approach and the confidence to make sound engineering decisions

Experience leading a geographically dispersed team, working across complex projects, and contributing to product strategy would also be highly regarded.

About you

You’ll be the type of person who enjoys building capability in others while still staying connected to the engineering detail.

You’ll be calm under pressure, commercially aware, technically credible and able to bring people with you. You’ll also be comfortable challenging ideas, making decisions, improving systems and creating clarity for your team.

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who leads with integrity, takes ownership, and genuinely wants to contribute to products that make a difference for customers.

Why Pacvac?
