Description:

The Appian Engineer (Level 1) supports the design, development, and delivery of Appian-based workflow and automation solutions for Novigi clients.

Working under the guidance of more experienced engineers and technical leads, this role contributes to the delivery of process automation initiatives, including workflow development, system integration support, and configuration of Appian applications.

The role focuses on building foundational technical capability across Appian development, while contributing to high-quality client outcomes and developing an understanding of enterprise workflow and automation solutions.

Works with: Engineers, Technical Leads, Architects, Delivery Leads, Business Analysts, Client Stakeholders

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and configuration of Appian applications across workflow, case management, and automation use cases
  • Assist in translating business requirements into technical solutions using Appian BPM capabilities
  • Contribute to the build of process models, SAIL interfaces, and data structures (CDTs) under guidance
  • Support integration activities, including working with APIs and web services
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues and resolving defects across Appian applications and environments
  • Contribute to testing activities, including functional testing and validation of workflows
  • Maintain and update technical documentation as required
  • Complete defined tasks within client engagements under guidance
  • Assist with workshops, capturing requirements, and supporting preparation of demos
  • Contribute to development, testing, and documentation activities aligned to delivery outcomes
  • Follow engineering standards and best practices relating to design, performance, and security
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team
  • Develop technical skills in Appian development and workflow automation
  • Build understanding of client environments, systems, and delivery expectations
  • Contribute to team outcomes while continuing to develop technical and consulting capability

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar
  • Internship or project experience in software development or system implementation
  • Understanding of financial services or superannuation industry (preferred)
  • Foundational experience or exposure to application development (Appian or similar low-code platform preferred)
  • Basic understanding of workflow/BPM concepts and system development lifecycle
  • Exposure to APIs, web services, or system integrations (academic or practical experience)
  • Familiarity with data structures and basic data modelling concepts
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exposure to Appian platform and/or low-code technologies
  • Interest in workflow automation and digital transformation
